I was just relating something interesting I saw, not the perfect
solution. Besides, I'm not aware of any hobby level CAM software that is
capable of carving 3D parts using robot geometry. Programming 5 axis
machining on an appropriate milling machine is significantly more
complex than 2-1/2 axis programming.
I think it would be cool to hang a router off the end of a welding robot
and carve stuff, but it's not a trivial task.
