There was an interesting machine that sold on eBay recently, similar to
this. It had a rotary axis mounted vertically, and a horizontal spindle
that could also move vertically and, presumably, in and out relative to
the rotary axis. Nicely enclosed in a cylindrical cabinet.
Was supposed to have been sold for carving out anatomical models.
I was half tempted to buy it just for fun, it being an obvious perfect
match for doing sculpture type work.
