Tim:
Thank you for your offer of assistance. Allow me to tell you upfront
that it has been a month or so since I worked on installing EMC. As
such, I am unable to provide the error messages generated during the
install. I cooled on the project, in the hopes that I could locate
the install cd I've heard mentioned. I will attempt the installation
again soon, and will accurately document the process.

To your questions:
> Is the problems you are having getting RedHat 5.2 up and running in
Xwindows

RH 5.2 installed without difficulty. Xwindows seems to run fine.

> or do you run into the problems when you try the real time patch?

As I recall, I generated error messages during the kernel update. One
site I visited said this was normal. I was dubious. I was unable to
get the RT patch to install as described.

> What speed and brand of CPU are you using?

The CPU is a Intel Pentium 200.

> Are you trying to do the patch manually or using my script?

I attempted to use your script. Unable to document the exact results
at this time, but will soon.

or are

Yes, a dedicated Linux box with a clean install.

No, single O/S

> How big is the hard drive?

Drive is 10G.

> Are you using a workstation install or custom?

Workstation install per recommendation of cdrom install script.

Too late :)

I was reluctant to impose upon the group for tedious debug
assistance, and was not really sure who to contact. My emails to some
of the supporting webpages have not been answered...potentially quite
understandably, as time is a valuable commodity.

Thanks for your interest. I will wipe my machine, document my
install experience, and return with specific details.

Ron
