Terry:
I have purchased the Lathe in question. At $999 Canadian it seems a
deal. It seems very accurate now that I have had a chance to cut a few
cylinders and such, and I agree that the ones I've seen on Ebay from the
40's and 50's don't seem to compare. $999 Canadian is really about $400.00
US when you consider that no shipping is required and I've seen 50 year old
jewelers lathes go for more than that. This thing has a threading dial,
hardened ways, transmission drive (no belts to change) and change gears for
42 different threads. It may not be ideal, but I think the price was right
on this so far. Near killed me getting it into the basement though. Now I
just have to learn how to use it properly and get a 4-jaw chuck (If I can
find one).
Thanks for the comments from everyone, like everything else on this group,
some hate them, some love them, but the comments are always worth reading
over.
