Indeed I did not realize how bad my mill-drill was until after I had purchased a very used American built mill. Such is experience.
Not all asian is junk. Indeed some of the Japanese stuff is very nice, just pricey; which is why it is nice.
You pays your money and takes your chances.
Part of acceptability depends on use. Plastics and brass just don't put the same stress on a machine. It also depends on tolerances
and repeatability. One mans treasure is another's junk...or visa versa.
