We have a new system at work doing data acquisition from nuclear
detectors under Linux. It also hangs up, and it is known to be due
to a new device driver, that the author admits still needs work.

You might check the Linux web site and see if any new drivers
are available. Especially, look for an updated version of the
video card driver.
