I can't really say anything about TurboCAD-3D, as I've never used it. I've
used AutoCAD-Lite at work and am using Intellicad 2000 standard edition at
home. I believe that Intellicad 2000 offers some amount of 3D, but I'm not
qualified to evaluate it. You might try www.cadopia.com to register and
download a copy. It's a 14 Megabyte file and takes a relatively long time to
download, but it works well for the things I'm doing.
Some of the evaluation software was available at some of the off-campus
bookstores around Ohio State campus in Columbus.
I'm just starting to get into metalworking and also am looking at automating
my Sherline tools. It's interesting (and nice) that you can get into this
stuff at a relatively decent price today when, not that many years ago, it
was untouchable.

hey Carol,
I have an engineering school right by me (in chicago) but have no
clue as to where there things are. The school is also pretty
well "ID" protected as I have tried to walk around their buildings.
From the few CAD programs I have used, Rhino 3D seems pretty straight
forward. I will keep playing with it and hopefully make up my mind
one of these days :) Do you think TurboCAD 3D could be an option??
thanks!
