Fred and List,
This is not meant as a gloat or anything like that but I'm perplexed
at why machine prices are so high in the US.
I regulary see S/H old clunkers advertised at around $2500 to $6000
For some reason, and I don't know what it is, they don't fetch
anything like that here. Granted some dealers are trying to sell this
stuff at these prices but more and more aren't stocking them.
One of my neighbours who runs Hardinge lathe just bought a brand new
one. The dealer wouldn't take the old one in part chop, he said "You
are getting rid because it's not competative, who am I going to sell
it to ?"

Ironically enough you mention LeBlonds with GE550 controls. The last
auction I went to had two of these. I think they made $700 each.

Does anybody know what a Bridgeport MDI mill is?
I gather it's a cross between a manual and a CNC hence the MDI bit.
I'm going to look at one in a sealed bid sale on Monday. It's very
tidy and is in a college, low hours, no production.
Are these worth buying ?
