That might just work out for him, he hasn't cut the long sides yet.
Yes, it is a little tricky!

I'm not sure where he got the wood, or if he wants to practice more
before/if he buys some "expensive" wood.

As long as he doesn't want me to set up a wood shop!

After the first few cuts, his question was: "Are you going to put
motors on this mill too?" (referring to the Sherline).

On Vector .DXF, you (or whoever asked) need(s) to call the layer "parts"
or anything other then "0", from what I've heard.
