Jon,

Consider using roll taps for the blind holes if you have not already.
I've got two Procuniers, and they are just the best.
What I like best is the fact that they disengage almost instantly when
you hit the quill stop, with virtually no over travel like some other
brands.
At my last job I did a -lot- of blind 0-80 and 4-40 holes in 304 SS. The
company, an ultra high vac instrument outfit, had always approached
tapping like a modelmaker. They were rather stunned when I brought my
small Procunier in and procceded to tap about a hundred blind 0-80 holes
to within .020 of bottom.

Paid retail for my small one, got the larger one for about 1/2 price.
Some of the best money I've spent in my shop!
