Hi Weyland,

Sounds like you're going to hang the regulator circuit on the MOTOR
supply! Not the best choice (it does work, with caveats). We want to
get the MOTOR supply isolated from the PC's signals and supply. If the
PC drives the Opto-isolators, then there is no direct connection from
the PC to the MOTOR supply. However if you regulate off of the MOTOR
supply, then there is a connection (more or less)!

That's why getting 5v from the keyboard port, joystick (game) port, or
one of the disk drive power connectors is usually recommended.

Using the MOTOR supply, it may never fail. But if it does, you could
fry your PC's parallel port, or worse. That's why opto-isolators are in
a lot of driver designs (protection)!
