RE: magnetic strips. The mag. strips I saw were thin, flexible and had a sticky back so they could be taped onto a surface. I asked about interference from nearby magnetic fields and the possibility of demagnetizing the strip. The rep. said that it is not a problem. I do not know the output from the sensor but would suspect it to be a quadrature type system. The catalog states that "there are two possiblities for processing these values: direct display on the machine (via an electronic display unit) or data transfer to a master control via standard incremental interfaces (phase-shifted square signals)" The sensor has to be within 2 mm of the mag. strip to work.
