Hello,
Just thought I'd throw into this thread the fact that often/nearly
always the Y axis screw of a mill is a left handed thread. So if you
intend to have a dual-use mill (manual and cnc), you will need to
strongly consider using a left hand ballscrewand nut for the Y axis.
Although the CNC control will not care, and can easily be configured
to account for a RH screw; and you may be able to "learn" the non-
standard handwheel rotations: God forbid you trying to use a
conventional manual mill after much use of your "bastard" machine.
For in this case your muscles and brain will lead you towards
incorrect movements, with possibly disastrous (and bloody?) results.
Be careful.
