Bob,
I really would rather keep the $$ notation. Otherwise the relative
difference becomes quickly blurred.
And the prices become the focus, instead of the function. In the
overall scheme of things, a $$$ is likely going to be different
enough from a $$. It MAY make sense to "round down or up at the ends
of the $ scale(s) however. If I was adding a product that sold for
100 bucks, I'd make an educated guess as to whether it was likely to
stay there or increase (meaning increase quickly, or substantially)
amd give it either $$ or $$$, based on this.
Using a $ per digit was just "first pass" thinking, let's let the
thing evolve a little, and then make corrections if necessary. We
might see things differently when there's a hundred, or a thousand,
entries...
Remember, the KEY is whether it is CAD, CAM/toolpath, or MOTOR
control. Next, how does its price RELATE to other choices. Finally,
how can we find out more?
Thinking this way, the F, 1-9, 10-99, 100-999, 1000+, 10000+
categories seem appropriate; broad enough to eliminate too
much "cutoff from consideration before discovery", but defined enough
to have worthwhile meaning...
Hope this helps.
