Why not? If there were a pin-out "standard" for the printer port, then you
could "try" any of the several G-Code interpreters without having to worry
about the wiring. If there were a "standard" for the connector pins between
the drivers & stepper motors (or servos, for that matter) and even the
connector types themselves, it'd also help us newbies get started with
something that was already proven to work. Of course, everyone would follow
the standard, just as the manufacturers follow standards! :)
