You've got something wrong there for sure. I've made my own pulleys and
am running a Sherline spindle and DC motor on my MAX, but using the MAX
belt. I run my spindle at up around 7,000rpm for hours. I did finally
buy a belt, but it was just to have a spare laying around. Actually, I
think I ordered two when I found out about shipping. Geeze, I'm getting
an HP Deskjet 500 shipped from New Jersey for not much more than MAXNC
nicks customers for shipping a puny belt in a little envelope.
Back to your problem. Only thing I can think of is, look the pulleys
over real careful for any nicks, dents, or scratches that might be
abrading the belt.
