Hans,
These belts are failure prone because most don't know how to tension the
belts properly. Gates has application notes that specify these values. I have
not worked with them in a couple of years but used to for a tape drive maker.
They require tension beyond what most would feel is correct. If you can get
ahold of the Gates tension tool, better yet. If done right they should last a
long time.

Having problems with drive belts on my MAXNC-10 mill.
It's small V Belt and I'm now on my third belt... I paid special
attention to alignment but after just about 8 hours
of use they start to make a strange noise, when that happens the belt
will twist and destroy itself very quickly, within seconds...!

I'm looking to find another supplier of this type of belt. Written on
the belt are the following words

Gates 3M212 USA

Has anybody else had this problem ?

I can buy these from MAXNC but they charge $6 each and $15 for
shipping, they will not ship by US mail...
