Hans,

How long have you had your MAX? Is this something that has started up
after some period of use, or is it munching belts right out of the box?

If the pulleys have worn or were incorrectly machined, that will not
help belt life at all. If the spindle was run for some time with belts
misaligned, that could wear the V near the top in a flaring open
fashsion. New belts would only be touching at the bottom of the V, and
this could well make the belt want to twist.
Most certainly will wear it out fast.

If pulley wear is the cause, let me look around and see if I still have
my original pulleys. If so, you can have them for the cost of postage.
(and significatly less than MAX's $15!)
