Prodesktop is probably the best bargain of all (FREE). It has
kinematic simulation and also can easily develop/combine 2D cad from
the 3D solid models. It is parametric based and can also model
fairly complex surfaces. Note that the best link for that software
is at http://www.prodesktop.net This is a self help user site with
forum, news, and links to the download site. It is rumored to be a
hangout for the programs developers too. The STL output from ProD
can be filtered at a user defined resolution to control surface
accuracy of the STL file.
We maintain the 3D CAD list as it identifies programs that we have
ascertained are capable of generating files in some format that can
be machined by the combination of StlWork and Accutrans.
The site is http://www.stlwork.com StlWork Lite is the lowest priced
3D CAM software on the market.
