The through hole in the saddle isn't 3/8 all the way through. To run a
ball screw will require drilling slightly over size for clearance, plus
fabrication of mounting plates like I did for the ActiveCam nuts. It's
doable, but I passed on the cost because of how finicky the ways are for
adjustment. I think I've struck a fairly reasonable compromise in
accuracy vs cost.
One thing I've considered but not tried, is to bond .002 shim stock to
the long slides to get away from the anodized/anodized interface, and
use maybe a teflon impregnated material for gib strips. I've found that
there is a -very- fine line between proper adjustment and binding.

There comes point when it's just easier to start from scratch...
