Terry:
#12 AWG is just-BARELY over 2.0 mm. dia. This is perhaps the most common
size for household wiring, though #14 is sometimes used for single overhead
lighting fixtures, or "known light use" outlets. I do NOT know the "code
requirements" in that regard, but I feel better if a MINIMUM of #12 is "run
everywhere", or #10 for "runs" to, say, outdoor outlets that are 20 meters or
more from the house. #14 AWG is about 1.6+ mm dia. and #10 is about 2.6 mm.
dia. copper.
Transformers are wound with "AWG wire", meaning the diameters of the copper
is stated in American Wire Gage. If you wanna chat about this kinda detail,
or transformer-makin', feel free to contact me off-group. I am a harmless
ol' Yank!
