Hey! lets knock heads. I was a transformer design engineer for about 8
years, at a local company. I designed transformers small enough to sit on
your little fingernail, all the way up to a 3-phase water-cooled: 25-volt
at 30,000 amp unit that weigfhed about 5200 lbs (the zig-zag secondaries
were 3-in-parallel 5/8" square hollow [for the water flow] conductors)!
Good to see someone else in the fraternity. O-o-o-p-s! Maybe I have to be
politically correct & include anyone who might be in the maternity!! (I'm
a "Yank" too, but sometimes, my wife says I'm a jerk). I even wrote some
BASIC-language programs to simplify design.
