It all comes down to engineering.
If Bridgeport spends time and money paying engineers, mechanical,
structural, electrical, maybe even civil, to develop a product then
they want to sell it and it is poorly designed, they get a bad rep,
if it works, and works well, it becomes a standard.
So, yes, duplicate good standard designs, there are reasons they work
that you might not find out until that first cut.
Also, I am too old (45) to considder going back to work in a shop,
but if you learn standard G-code and you have a problem, almost
anybody can help. If you use some odd variation of html then you can
only rely on a very few people to help you out.
remember, a design based on sound engenering principals has the
POTENTIAL of being a great machine, but a machine based on a poor
design will only work well if it is extreemly well built, and then it
will have inherent flaws.
