Hi Alan

to re-zero the handwheel you just switch from JOG mode into MDI
so the handwheel is ignored and move the wheel back to the zero mark
switching back into JOG mode restarts your encoder read function on
the game port with the current encoder value

all you need now is a spring detent plate on the encoder shaft to give
that "Click" feel to it and the setup you've already got will be just about
as good as the $300 commercial pulse generator controls!

for the feedrate and spindle speed overrides you dont need any A/D
inputs at all (you could use them) it can be done all digital
2ea 16 position BCD or Gray coded switches (4bits each) on a spare
parallel port would give overrides from 0-150% by tens
