Gene:
What limitations are you talking about? I'm running Novell DOS-7 (also
called DR-DOS or OpenDOS, depending on which year and owner you're thinking
about) with TurboCNC. It will not run DeskNCRT, which attempts to add a
multitasking layer on top of the OS. Unfortunately, DeskNCRT plays with some
parts of the OS that is not exactly the same as MS-DOS.
DR-DOS is its own operating system and can run on a PC without any help.
There is also a version of it that runs as a task under Linux.
I don't see Linux's multitasking capability allowing several other programs
to run while machining a part as being an advantage. From my experiences,
you really want to run ONLY the control program while making parts.

|What about DR DOS?

|It seems to overcome these limitations and can/does run under GNU/Linux.
