Well, this sounds like the scenario I mentioned. You could add an external
flip-flop to capture and store the direction polarity at the start of a step
pulse, or see if the software has any provisions to control this. Another
possibility is that the polarity of the step pulses is reversed, and the
software
is changing the direction at what it thinks is the right time, but the drive
is
accepting the wrong signal polarity as the active transition.
