Yea I guess its a little crazy ;-)

but I did mean mounting the encoders/decoders right to the table,
not the lead screw . And now see the problem with the table
moving a little during milling an causing some crazy motor movements

I guess I will stick with the steppers , and I just found a nice
transformer to build the required power supply .

Hammond Toroid Transformer
650VA , 60volts ,12.5 amps max

Now I have to move on to either finding a DIY driver for 6amp stepper
or just buy the Geckos and then convert over to ball screws
at a later date. I did find a real nice chopper driver but was
set up for ISA interface...

Any sugestions for drivers ,commercial or home brew would be
appreciated.

Its been a very good learning experience so far.
