Hello Murray,
I guess it is a little nasty specially if the material is thin walled
and soft. I suspect to be able to do well done threads you will have to
back up your parts with some kind of reinforcement from out or inside
depending on the thread you do. For inside threads I would make a solid
clamp out of two halfs and clamp that one. For outside threads I would
use an expanding core. For to get good threads I would always use
threading inserts and an elevated speed for to avoid a build up edge or
smearing. On steel under 40m/min cutting speed you will not get a good
surface.
