Joe,
I posted my Excel spreadsheet in the files section back in January
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO/files/Math/end mill
calculator.xls) which I created based on the documentation that came with my
Taig CNC. I verified it against the Cimco Speed & Feed calculator (you can
get it at http://www.emastercam.com/tools/utils/feedspeed/ ) and the numbers
matched. My spreadsheet calculates cut depth, RPM and feed rate based on
cutter diameter, number of flutes, and chip thickness.
Either one should work for you, but if you don't know recommended SFM for
different materials, my spreadsheet lists various with recommended SFM.
FYI, for your setup below (assume a 2 flute mill), I calculated 1221 RPM and
9.7 ipm feedrate for Stainless Steel (based on 0.007" chip thickness which
others on the list pointed out may be a little aggressive - note that this
is changable in my spreadsheet). The numbers were the same with Cimco calc
(1222 RPM and 10 ipm). Both calcs based on 0.004" feed per tooth.
Hope that helps.
James
