stable EMC version?

A couple of different conversations I've had in the past week have caused me to
wonder which version of EMC is being used by list members who are actually
running jobs on their machines. In other words, what is the most reliable and
stable version of EMC currently available?
After being a quasi-bystander for the last couple of years, I finally have EMC
driving my Emco-Maier f1 milling machine. I am currently running the BDI
version of EMC, but I need to be certain that I can count on whatever version I
am running. I know that both Jon and Tim have been longtime user's of EMC, and
if I'm not mistaken, both are running earlier(?) versions of EMC. I am
definitely interested in hearing any opinions on this.

ftr: I am using a pentium 233, driving Gecko 320's, and servos
