Thanks for all the replies, I've noticed the little cover and now I know
what's under it. I'll pick up a spring next visit to the parts place. Out of
interest, today we picked up the rest of the drills. One is an excellent
mini drill press on a cast iron 3" thick column for accurate high speed
stuff. The other was a monster, nothing else. 3 1/8" holes on what is a knee
and body identical to a vertical mill. This thing must have been 9ft tall
plus and easily the best part of 1.5 tons. I got some first hand expirience
on moving the press to the next work shop. When we drove the truck out from
under it and it began to swing you should have seen us move (It's an
Archdale I think). All these drills were free of charge! :-) Heck, our
current drill he thinks is fine and it rattles like a beaut. I can't wait to
be purring the tiny 12mm drill bits through the work. Time to buy a nice big
vice for it I think.
