freqmod definitely dummies out the expected feedback from the motors.
It uses a bit of code from the simulation version of EMC. If you have
encoders, then you use smdromod, which does accept the position feedback.

For the most horrible results, enter 31 -35 KHz horizontal, and 50 - 80 Hz
vertical, or select "generic VGA". But, this will leave you stuck at
640x480,
which looks like looking through a keyhole to me, now.

You can search the web, using your monitor model number, or even search
the listing of available types. Unless you have the latest DVI or DMPS
(is that the right acronym?) monitors, the computer cannot receive any
information
back from the monitor, so you have to manually select the type.
