Complex 3D surfacing strategies, import of STL models and IGES trimmed
surfaces and DXF mesh surfaces. Engraving on surfaces, restriction curves
and surfaces, axis parallel or isoparametric cutting directions, pattern and
patch milling, and bicurvic surface cutting strategies. Mill pocket and Lathe
contour finish passes, with or without tool compensation.
To make a dish (inverted hemisphere):
Draw-Arc-Coordinates, R=1.0 start=0 end=180
Nurbs-Surface of Revolution, -180 degrees about the X axis
You could have asked for help, would have saved you quite a bit of time (4 hours?).
That's what our user forum is for.
The tutorials all work. You have to follow the instructions.
Did you have trouble with the ones on our user forum with the pictures?
There is also this dish, which uses an Excel spread sheet, and does not need surfaces:
http://www.vectorcam.com/cooker
This tutorial uses surfaces and then creates engraving toolpaths on them

Hopefully a little additional information will help you and others better understand the differences.
