I use rolled screws and have had no problems of any sort. Mine are Techno
Isel 16 mm PD by 5 mm pitch. They have preload-adjustable nuts and I can
set them for nearly zero lash, at which state they still free run their
entire lengths. Needed no breakin, have had about 200 hours or so each in
the last three-four years, may need balls in a few more years. I run them
under and behind chip shields and take them out for clean-up about once a
year. Have gone thru several crashes w/ no evident damage.

I do think loading over size balls into rolled screw nuts is not the best
idea; your control over preload is not good but that's an important part of
getting good life.
