Personally I think it is a bad idea to add encoders to solve the
problem. A properly set up and adjusted stepper machine will not lose
steps unless you hit something or go too fast for the is capabilities.
You are wanting to throw on some encoders to magically fix what is the
true problem. I think your time/effort/money would be much better spent
figuring out the actual problem and fixing it. Then if you feel you need
encoders for some reason have at it. But in my mind it is much like
putting a fancy paint job on a run down jalopy. It may make it look
good, but does not address the basic issues.
