Gecko wiring question

This is about the wiring of the power to a gecko 201a.
term.1 power ground
term. 2 motor power + 24-80V
Term. 10 5vdc from controller.

OK the question is I run a + an - from the power supply to term 1 and
2. no problem. I also run a +5vdc line from the controller.
but what about the negative for from the controller? do I just run it
to term.1?
I read something, but don't remember where about burning the opti
iso. on geckos if you goofed up the grounding. that is why I'm asking
this "stupid question".
