Best pendant feature I ever saw was a 'deadman's switch' that FANUC used in
their Robotic Welding Programming Pendant. Only problem, it takes getting
used to holding the button so as not to let your thumb 'fall asleep', and
accidentally trigger an E-Stop. They had a Right-hand and Left-hand
button, so you could alternate thumbs, avoiding some of the fatigue. Also,
it should be noted that a pendant should be used soley for programming,
de-bugging, or launching a program, not for actually running production. It
should also be designed to keep both hands on the pendant, avoiding
possible injury.
