I don't know what Cimco is, however the comments in a later repsonse are on
the nose with one exception, NFS is not supported by windows (prior to XP
which I don't know) much less being proprietary. TCP/IP which includes DNS
and NFS is a whole suite of communication protocols. What you want is to
talk to your com port and hope the machine you are talking to uses ASCII
like the other guy said. What operating system are you using on your PC? I
you have access to a basic interpreter you can talk directly to com1 or com2
and get some immediate results. One of the first after setting baud, data,
stop and parity is to establish if your machine is half or full duplex.
Thses things can all be configured directly from the basic program.
Otherwise use a terminal program. The only problem here is the program will
require you to select a terminal to emulate which throughs in an additional
variable. If you go the terminal program route it must be a stand alone
program such as Crosstalk. Using a terminal emulator in windows XP is not
going to work. You will not be talking through the com port. You will have
to execute Crosstalk or whatever from the command prompt.
