For a machine that is easily converted to CNC it is hard to beat a
Sherline if it meets the work envelope requirements you have. Besides
the fact that you can buy it with the motor mounts already in place, you
can upgrade a non-CNC machine with just the purchase of a factory CNC
motor mount kit. They are also very nicely made machines with a great
line of accessories. My first CNC machine was a Sherline mill and it got
me hooked on this hobby. After selling the Sherline to move into some
bigger equipment I bought another Sherline setup because I missed having
the little machines. There are just some jobs that are more enjoyable to
run on the Sherline than on the big Bridgeport Series II CNC mill I also
have. Than after having bought a Sherline setup the second time around I
decided to become a Sherline dealer. So, while my advise may be
considered suspect because I am a dealer hopefully you will see that I
was sold on the Sherline machines before I started selling them.
