Hi Don
Reading between the lines here - I take it you ended up with a black screen
with command line prompt ?
Error messages about "Server not found" are indicative of XFree86 problems
and has nothing to do with networking (which is configured with a static IP
by default if a NIC is recognised). What is the make and model of your
graphics card ?
If it is one of the modern on board variety that uses shared memory for
video, you are not going to get BDI-2.xx running unless an older graphics
card is plugged in.
At http://emc.obstinate.org is a BDI-Live image that will run from CD. This
should work with most 500MHz plus machines with 128M of memory. Using this
CD, you can play with EMC first without having to delete Windows.
N.B. There is a known bug on the BDI-Live CD that prevents Nvidia chipsets
from being used - This should be fixed once the version number hits rc10.
