Dave, in regards to your temperature measurement and plotting, I'm
not electronics oriented either, but had to respond. I have this
Sears Crafstman multimeter. It has a thermocouple socket (you have
to buy the thermocouple too) and the multimeter plugs into my PC
serial port. The PC software measures and plots any reading vs time
increments on the multimeter, including temperature, in a Win95 O/S
(I use WinXP and tell XP to run this program as Win95) I can also
import the data into an Excel spreadsheet. It works and is fun to
play with, but to use it at my mill, I'd need another PC nearby and
I don't plan on doing that any time soon. Charles
