Netmos/Linux/EMC??

I have installed a netmos 9805 pci parallel port in my EMC test
computer. The auto-select feature of the chip is registering the
device at 0xac00, with irq 10. I have run "Parport.o"
& "Parport_pc.o" successfully (verified by /proc/parport/1/hardware
& .../irq.
does anyone know if I can use 0xac00 with emc to control my aux.
i/o? The i/o exercise script does not appear to write to it & i/o
show will not display that address.
The documentation claims that the chip will automatically select
a "legacy port" unless they are all occupied & when I boot to
windows it selects 278. My theory is that my Linux installation is
loading a driver module for 378, 278, & 3bc, blocking the netmos
chip from using any of these port addresses. Feel free to tear my
theory apart.
The easiest solution I can think of would be to use an old fashioned
jumper selectable parallel port card but I have not found any pci
cards that don't use netmos chips.
I noticed a pci utilities update on the BDI updates page, would this
already be included in my BDI 2.2?
Can anyone shed some light on this subject?
Thanks,
Dean Angevine
