Hi Dean

Sure you can use a PCI parallel port card with EMC - I have one plugged in
here without any problems.
The trick is to determine the correct IO address to use. I'd suggest looking
at /proc/pci and look for IO addresses for a communications controller. Cross
referencing them with /proc/ioports might help in identifying the correct one
to use.

pci-utils was added to BDI-2.18 to enable some people to do some development
work. It is not a prerequisite program that *must* be installed before any
PCI card can be used. All it does is interrogate PCI cards and provide
additional information.
