Hi Scott;
Have you considered www.automationdirect.com? The have a bunch of
VFD, not many of them rated for single phase input though. I would
search around a bit as I believe that a good VFD is the way to go.
The issue is finding one that is rated for single phase AC in.
You also may want ot consider remotoring the unit with less HP to the
spindle if your usage permits. I'd also investigate getting the
original DC motor working, though if it is an older brushed motor it may
not be worth the effort. Since your already running a large rotary
phase converter, I'm wondering if you have the infrastructure in place
to handle another large motor. That would be a rather impressive
single phase service.
