I'd bet you arent using a $20 Ebay copy machine stepper motor.

All kidding aside, there are instances where servos outperform steppers,

They always outperform steppers. Do a google for servo verses stepper graph.

but when both are operated within
their limits (with suitable reserves for accleration) they can both
perform well.
