Dave didn't know of any servo systems that were close to the $200
cost, so I showed him what he had missed to get close in a servo.
Rapids become important in drilling as 95% of the motion is at rapid
speed. These are not a direct drive solution, but scrounging a good
reduction drive setup can be as much fun as scrounging the
electronics and motors. It just depends on what part of the CNC
hobby you want to play. Electronics, mechanisms, software, or parts.
These particular motors look a lot like a short stack IM-15.

CNC covers a wide range of machines and these motors are NOT what you
would use on a Bridgeport. ;-)
