I have an interest in this, I have taken apart several HP inkjets
and they too use a servo motor except they also use a linear
encoder. I was thinking a pair of such motors an encoders could
make a great little laser cutter or similar. I threw away the drive
boards but by looking at the components it may be possible to work
back from the motor output just enough to at least have the amp
section.
Would geckos work with such small motors?
One other thing is that there is an application note for PIC control
of servo motors, this might be a good route to take for some cheapo
step and direction servo control for small machines. Would be an
interesting project.
