TurboCADCAM is not only very advanced in CAD, it is also exceptionally well
integrated between CAD and CAM. Suppose you create a pocketing routine to
mill out a pocket with islands. Then later you change the design, move some
of the islands and also change the size of the pocket. What you find is
that the CAM routines are fully aware of the CAD drawing. All the paths
that do the pocketing are recalculated based on the new geometry. You never
have to re-enter the CAM profiles or click on any of the CAM function icons,
all you do is change the CAD drawing and then rewrite the G-code file to
disk. This is the sort of integration which not expected and normally not
found in the low cost CAM programs.

That sounds pretty good for like a router where toolpath direction is generally irrelevant. Although, for machining steel, I like to select the direction of the toolpath in certain areas so the mill is climbing for a better finish or play the deflection in areas of high loads upon the cutter. And machine some areas in an deliberate order for one reason or another. Does TurboCad Cam always know what the operator is thinking? Bobcad V18 doesn't either. But it will also simulate the workpiece by projecting a solid block over the 3D toolpath. Select a tool from the library then watch exactly how it will be machined from a 3-D view with that particular tool and how the part will look when finished as a solid. Will TurboCADCAM do this? Can it project text to a 3-D surface? Will it generate a 5 axis toolpath? Can it handle Ballnose offsets for 3D surfaces? If there is something better, I'd like to know.
