Hi Allan,

Over here in the UK we can obtain a specific steel bar that is centerless
ground to fine tolerances usually 0.5 thou 0.0005" that can be hardened by
heating to cherry red and quenching in water. this must be available all
over the world but most likely under a different name
It is available from Stubbs Sheffield, I do not know why it is called silver
steel as there is no silver in it

Like wise I do not know what "drill rod" is

It is however my insertion to build a router and to publish the design on my
web site as mentioned below
