Sounds like a possibility. I appreciate the info. Do you think
there is much difference between the 2 types you have pointed me to
on EBay? since I have no experience.
It does sound like with the jog feature on the VFD and limit switches
that I could very well get it to work. Althought the shifting is
somewhat cumbersome, it takes some movement of the spindle, which the
VFD can do in a jog mode, and when it goes into gear there is a
definite movement of the lever into a constant position that could
very well be sensed by a proximity switch.
My only problem is lack of inputs on my breakout board. Since I have
all my limit switches in series there are y + and - limit inputs open
that could be used for the 2 limits on the shifter. Perhaps a VB
program could do everything else and an additional output would not
be needed?
